PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input/output device that can reduce erroneous recognition in automatic character recognition by executing character recognition from given image data. SOLUTION: The image input/output device, which recognizes characters from input image data representing an image including character information and outputs the image data and character data, comprises character recognizing means 14 for recognizing characters included in the image represented by the input image data and converting the recognized characters into character data representing them, screen displaying means 16 for displaying a screen including the image represented by the input image data and the characters represented by the character data acquired by the character recognizing means 14, and inputting means 17 used in selecting the image displayed on the screen displaying means 16 to command the character recognizing means 14 to recognize characters from the image data corresponding to the displayed image.
