PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load cell and the manufacturing method therefor, capable of detecting the weight of a test piece by utilizing the whole effective range of a strain gauge. SOLUTION: In a measuring instrument, for example, an electronic force balance to which the load cell is applied, the amount of the deflection of a load detecting mechanism when the load of only a sample plate is loaded, is measured in advance. A rectangular solid of a metal block is made hollow into a spectacle shape and following processes are carried out; a load cell base 1a provided with distortion sections S1, S2, S3, S4, is fixed by fixtures 2, 3 that can fix at the same amount of deflection as the measured amount of deflection; and a curved surface that can be made into the distortion sections S1, S2, S3, S4 is processed so that the surface becomes flat. Strain gauges G1, G2, G3, G4 corresponding to this flat surface are bonded, and thereafter, is made into a load cell, by heating it to cure at a constant temperature. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
