PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic bearing device with a rotating shaft shorter in the axial direction than conventional one for reducing contamination in the device. SOLUTION: A rotor 4 is arranged in a casing 2 and supported in magnetic non-contact in the axial direction of the rotating shaft 3 and in the direction perpendicular thereto by a thrust magnetic bearing 5 and a radial magnetic bearing 6. The rotor 4 is rotationally driven around the rotating shaft 3 by a motor 7. In a disc 4a of the rotor 4, thirty-six slits 8 are provided which pass through the rotating shaft 3 in the axial direction and which are equally spaced along the radial direction. The thrust magnetic bearing 5 and the radial magnetic bearing 6 are opposed to the face of the disc 4a in which the slits 8 are formed. The slits 8 interrupt an eddy current to be generated in the disc 4a resulting from the thrust magnetic bearing 5 and the radial magnetic bearing 6, and so ill effects of the eddy current are avoided.
