POLYURETHANE AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

A cheap biodegradable polyurethane with excellent properties, having not only a glyceride but also molasses and/or a lignin material incorporated in molecular chains of polyurethane. In particular, there is provided a polyurethane characterized in that it is produced by polycondensation reaction of a polyol solution, the polyol solution containing not only a glyceride having at least two hydroxyls in its molecule but also molasses and/or a lignin material in dissolved form, with a polyisocyanate, and that providing that A refers to the weight of glyceride component and B to the weight of molasses component and/or lignin material component, the sum of A and B is in the range of 10 to 90% based on the total weight of polyurethane while the ratio of A to B (A/B) is in the range of 0.1 to 10.
