<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To turn on a relay provided between a motor and a high voltage battery during travel of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: When an engine 1 is stared based on an operator's ignition key operation before the relay 5 is turned on, rotation speed of the engine 1 is controlled to a predetermined rotation speed and the relay 5 is turned on under a condition where rotation speed of the engine 1 is controlled at the predetermined rotation speed.
