<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly and quickly evaluate the quality of a printer with an operation panel loaded. <P>SOLUTION: In the case when data corresponding to an operation mode whereby a label printer 100 carries out a process on the basis of operation data transmitted from a host computer 200 is stored in a mode data area of a RAM 22, a CPU 21 converts according to an operation emulation program stored in a ROM 23, the operation data from the host computer 200 which is received via an online communication control circuit 29 to a data form of operation panel data outputted by an operation panel control circuit 28, and then carries out a corresponding process.
