PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition for coating a steel material which can give a coated steel material excellent in adhesive properties to the steel material, high in surface hardness, and excellent in appearance and the coated steel material obtained by using the resin composition. SOLUTION: The resin composition contains 100 pts.wt. of a polyethylene resin composition comprising 5-35 wt.% of low density polyethylene (A), 5-35 wt.% of high density polyethylene (B), and 50-90 wt.% of carboxylic acid-modified polyethylene (C) and 60 pts.wt. or below of a filler (D).
