PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an equipment authentication system or the like that is capable of performing effectively equipment authentication by using a common key system. SOLUTION: When CE equipment requests the provision of services to a service sever, the service server requests the equipment authentication by an equipment authentication sever to the CE equipment. Receiving this request, the CE equipment gets the equipment authentication performed by the equipment authentication sever to transmit the result of the equipment authentication to the service server. The service server receives the result of the equipment authentication from the CE equipment. After recognizing, by the equipment authentication sever, the result of the equipment authentication to be surely the performance by the equipment authentication sever, the service server starts the provision of the service. The CE equipment and the equipment authentication sever shares a pass phrase and authenticate each other by recognizing other party's memory of the pass phrase. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
