PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "a method and a device for recording and reproducing" for performing the recording of compressed data and reproducing operation at a normal speed by a small capacity of a recording medium. SOLUTION: Until finishing the operation of compressing uncompressed audio data read from a CD 12 by N-times speed by a compression and decompression processing part 40 and recording it in a hard disk device 14, the uncompressed audio data read from the CD 12 are recorded in the hard disk device 14 and this recorded uncompressed audio data are read and reproduced.
