PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lintel remodeling method for a sliding door, capable of improving traveling performance of a new sliding door, by easily performing remodeling for installing the new sliding door by performing remodeling while still leaving an existing lintel. SOLUTION: This method remodels the existing wooden lintel 1 of boring a pair of sliding grooves 2 slidingly fitted with an upper end part of an existing sliding door 4 in parallel to the under surface side. A recessed place 6 of continuing in a pair of existing sliding grooves 2, is formed by cutting off an intermediate projection 3 between the pair of sliding grooves 2 of the existing lintel 1 in the longitudinal direction in the total length. A rail member 9 is composed of a section parallelly provided with a pair of new sliding grooves 8 capable of slidingly fitting an upper end part of a new sliding door 7, and is embedded in the recessed place 6 of the existing lintel 1.
