<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protecting layer transfer sheet which imparts stampability to images formed by a thermal transfer recording method and writability with a water pen, a fountain pen or the like, and is superior in water resistance, solvent resistance and the like, and to provide a printing object using the same. <P>SOLUTION: In the protecting layer transfer sheet with a thermal transferable protecting layer set on at least a part of one face of a base sheet, the thermal transferable protecting layer has a water absorbability after thermal transfer. At least a release layer, a stampability/writability protecting layer and a heat adhesive resin layer are sequentially formed from the base sheet side. Moreover, the stampability/writability protecting layer comprises water resistant minute regions which are resistant to water and porous, and water absorptive minute regions formed of a water absorptive resin in the protecting layer transfer sheet. Furthermore, a mass ratio in a dry state between constituents of the water resistant minute regions and constituents of the water absorptive minute regions is in the range of 0.1<constituent of the water absorptive minute regions/constituent of the water resistant minute regions<0.4.
