摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve focus detecting capabilities and detection precision, while reducing the size of a focus detection device. SOLUTION: In the focus detection device, a pair of luminous fluxes for focus detection from an object, which pass through different areas (11a and 11b) and (11c and 11d) on an exit pupil surface of an objective lens are used to form a pair of object secondary images on the light-receiving surface of an image sensor 19 by a focus detection optical system, and the focusing state of the objective lens is detected, on the basis of a positional relation between the pair of subject secondary images. An optical path length is made longer, by installing a light-deflecting member 18 having a first reflective surface and a second reflective surface, between a pair of re-imaging lenses 17a and a pair of light-receiving surfaces 19a of an image sensor in the focus detection optical system, which correspond to a specific focus detection area A1 among a plurality of focus detection areas A1 to A3 set in a photographic screen on a predetermined focal surface.
