PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic controller capable of being reduced for a change gear shock, etc. in an automatic transmission without an accumulator. SOLUTION: The hydraulic controller of the automatic transmission is provided with a shift operating judgement means, an input rotation detecting means for monitoring an input shaft rotational speed, a change gear starting time calculating means for calculating a change gear starting time from a predetermined change gear starting judgement reference time until the engagement starting by judging that a hydraulic friction engagement element for starting is started to engage when the input shaft rotational speed is reduced by the predetermined rotational speed, and an input rotation change ratio detecting means for calculating the input rotation change ratio at the time when the input rotational speed falls down to the predetermined rotation after the engagement starting so as to adjust, learn and set a free charge time and a waiting pressure respectively based on the change gear starting time and the input rotation change ratio.
