<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal display device free of unnecessary reflection from a source wire which decreases the quality of screen display. <P>SOLUTION: The reflectivity of a source wire is made low so that the source wire 5 does not operate as a reflecting electrode, and a layer 51 is formed of a substance having a lower reflection factor than a pixel electrode 8 on the source wire 5, for example, between adjacent pixel electrodes. Further, a potential control means is provided, for example, between the source wire 5 and liquid crystal 9 to reduce an electric field leakage itself from the source wire 5 to the liquid crystal 9.
