PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an effective use of resources by transferring and storing image data in a common external storage connected to a network, and improve operability. SOLUTION: The device comprises: a main control part which controls operation and connection based on a built-in program of the device; a data compression part which compresses read image data into prescribed compression data; a format conversion part which converts the compressed data into a prescribed format; and a transfer control part which transfers the data converted into the above-mentioned format to a storage. The main control part comprises: a process S41 which registers a plurality of the storages as destinations; a process S44 which selects a compression mode of the read image data for each of the storages; a process S45 which selects a format of the image data for each of the storages; and a process which indicates the transfer of the data to a plurality of the storages, after converting the image data compressed by the selected mode into the selected format.
