PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable handrail which is opening prevention fencing installed between wall surfaces of right and left buildings or the like, and used as a handrail or intrusion prevention fencing, and capable of effectively absorbing tremor movement without using a wall surface plate by smoothly extending and retracting when there is tremor movement of an earthquake or the like. SOLUTION: The retractable handrail is composed of a pantograph like retractable linkage formed with a plurality of square frames, with at least two or more both ends attached to erected enclosures in right and left joint part sides via joint parts at predetermined intervals, and a plurality of handrail bar members respectively pivotally supported by a pivot part of either one of upper and lower parts of the square frame of the at least two or more retractable linkages, and a pivot part of a center part.
