A hygiene protection for a hand grip, e.g. for a hand grip on a supermarket or airport trolley, has a flat envelope (1) open along one side (17), and partway down each edge, to fit over a handgrip. The open corners of the envelope are provided with press fasteners, e.g. pres studs, press tapes, studs etc., enabling the envelope to be reused. The envelope can be split into two halves via a central perforated line (21). This allows the user to fit the envelope halves over the outer ends of an wide handgrip. The envelope can be made of plastic, metal foil, cellular material, textiles or a combination of materials.
