A dye carrier in emulsion form contains (a) water; (b) an oxidation dye precursor and optionally also a direct hair dye; (c) a conventional cosmetic cationic resin; (d) a nonionic organic thickener with wax-like properties; and (e) a nonionic surfactant. An independent claim is also included for a 2-component agent for oxidative hair dyeing, the components being mixed directly before use and comprising the above carrier and a liquid or creamy oxidation composition containing 1-12 wt.% oxidation agent.
