METHOD FOR CHANGING REDUCED SLOT CYCLE INDEX IN CDMA MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method for changing a reduced SCI(Slot Cycle Index) in a CDMA mobile communication system is provided to dynamically change an SCI by using a page message even though an MS(Mobile Station) is in idle state or in system access update overhead information substate, so that the MS can effectively support a service. An MS operates in idle state or in system access update information overhead substate(100). A BS transmits a page message to the MS to change an RSCI(Reduced Slot Cycle Index) of the MS(110). The MS is transferred to a page response substate to transmit a PRM(Page Response Message)(120), and loads an RSCI value and a T_RSC(Reduced Slot Cycle) value on the PRM, then transmits the PRM to the BS(130). The MS operates in the RSCI mode(140).
