An apparatus and a method for inserting source identification information of image data are provided to make it possible to identify the origin of a photographed image by inserting the source identification information into an image signal when the image signal obtained through a camera function of a wireless communication terminal is coded. An image signal of an object is obtained(201). When the obtained image signal is coded, source identification information of image data is inserted into the image signal(203). The image signal is stored in a storing part so that a certain user can extract the source identification information thereof from the image signal and thereby identify the origin of the image data(204).
