<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixed ion conductor with high conductivity and high reliability, and an electrochemical device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The mixed ion conductor is formed of a perovskite oxide containing Ba, Ce and In, of which the perovskite oxide is a crystalline compound expressed by: Ba(Ce<SB>1-x</SB>In<SB>x</SB>)<SB>p</SB>O<SB>3</SB>(where, x is within a range of 0.4 or more and 0.6 or less, and p is in a range of 1 or more and 1.02 or less).
