PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved fuel filter assembly which has a smaller number of necessary components and is more simply assembled. SOLUTION: The fuel filter assembly 10 includes a housing 12 having an end part supporting a first pipe. The housing defines a cavity 30 that is enclosed by a cover opposite to the end. A diverter 42 is arranged within the cavity and includes first and second sides 44, 46 with the first side adjacent to the housing end. The diverter includes a wall in sealing engagement with either the first tube or the housing end on the first side. The diverter is constructed from a first material forming a base 54 and a second material supported by the first material and defining at least one part of the first side. Preferably, the first material is a plastic and the second material is an elastomer forming a gasket suitable for providing a seal between the diverter and the housing.
