PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a problem wherein an energization component to a light source receives strain and stress in response to a pointer operation, so as to enhance reliability. SOLUTION: This pointer type measuring instrument includes an index plate 1 having the first viewing part 11 and an index part 12 surrounding the first viewing part 11, a rotor 3 having the second through-vision part 31 corresponding to the first viewing part 11, a drive unit 6 for moving the rotor 3, a pointer 4 equipped onto the rotor 3 and moved along an index part 13 in a circumference of the first viewing part 11, the light sources L2 for illuminating the pointer 4, and a display 7 for displaying prescribed information to an observer through the first and second viewing parts 11, 31. The plurality of light sources L2 is arranged with a space along a moving route of the pointer 4, the pointer 4 comprises a translucent material for receiving, along with the moving thereof, light from the prescribed light source L2 out of the plurality of light sources L2 to emit light.
