<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus which can rewrite content of a removable program memory that determines control of an engine controller, in accordance with content stored in the program memory of a removable system controller board. <P>SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus has a central integrated circuit which controls the engine controller for controlling a recording part and is set at the system controller board; and the program memory which is set inside the central integrated circuit, determines the control of the engine controller and is rewritable by control of the system controller board.
