<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian protection device formed to miniaturization and light weight, capable of relaxing impact against a pedestrian colliding to a vehicle and protecting the pedestrian from a projection or the like formed on an outer surface of the vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The pedestrian protection device is provided with a front hood 10 formed with an opening 12a for introducing external air into an engine of the vehicle; and an air bag 1 on the front hood 10. The pedestrian colliding to the vehicle is protected by the expanded/deployed air bag 1. When the air bag 1 is expanded/deployed, it is deployed from the inside of the opening 12a toward the outside of the vehicle and covers the outer surface of the vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
