<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an orthogonal conversion gear head, securing high degree of freedom in installation by easily changing the direction of a rotating shaft whether existing or newly installed, and reduce the noise while restraining increase in cost to the utmost. <P>SOLUTION: An orthogonal conversion mechanism 104 is accommodated in an independent casing 102 to form the orthogonal gear head 100. The orthogonal conversion mechanism 104 is composed of a pair of first and second bevel gears 110, 112, the rotating axes of which are disposed at right angles to each other. As an input shaft of the orthogonal gear head 100, an internal gear 106 is provided, and a pinion 410 rotated in a body with a motor shaft 402 of a motor 400 is inscribed in the internal gear to mesh therewith.
