PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and rapidly retrieve information corresponding to an object from a data group. SOLUTION: An image of a photographed flower is displayed on an image display device 12. By use of a touch sensor, arbitrary one point inside a petal is selected as a selection pixel P. An area (a connection component) CA continuously connected from the selection pixel P, comprising a pixel wherein a difference to hue of the selection pixel P is within a prescribed value is extracted on a mask image. A hole H surrounded by the area CA is filled in, and the area CA is converted into an area SC of a single connection component. Pattern matching is performed between a shape pattern extracted as the area SC and shape pattern data stored in the data group to retrieve a file having the shape pattern data similar to the photographed flower.
