METHOD FOR PRODUCING METAL-COATED CARBON FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for coating a carbon fiber bundle with a metal enabling the production of a high-quality carbon fiber product uniformly coated with the metal and capable of sure disaggregation without applying any excessive tension or impact thereon and without causing any fiber breakage. SOLUTION: This method comprises the following process: A carbon fiber bundle (1) comprising carbon fibers with a roundness of 50% or greater but less than 95% so as to enable a disaggregation to be made most optimally is introduced via roll electrodes (5, 7) into an electroplating bath (9) and subjected to metal coating treatment under the control of the tension on the carbon fiber bundle (1) within the range between 10 g or greater and less than 50 g so as to be easy to disaggregate without causing any carbon fiber breakage.
