PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate restoration of data in a storage system by combining snapshot data made by the storage system itself with data recovered by application programs or operating system programs. SOLUTION: This results in the snapshots which can join non-executable recovery features incorporated in application or operating system software in addition to a usual data image provided by the storage subsystem.
