A digester system for digesting wood-chips comprises revolving chip feeder 17 or 18 having cylindrical housing 19 closed by end walls 21, 22; rotor 27 mounted on shaft 31 for rotation within the housing, a plurality of axially extending passages 28 through the rotor, first and second mutually aligned connections 42, 43 in end walls 21, 22 respectively and adapted respectively to deliver low pressure liquor and chips into passages 28 and to remove low pressure liquor from the passages as the passages come into register with connections 42, 43 on rotation of rotor 27, screen means 47 across the opening to connection 43 to prevent chips leaving passage 28 with the liquor, and third and fourth mutually aligned connections 50, 51 in end walls 21, 22 respectively and adapted respectively to deliver high pressure liquor into passages 28 and to flush the high pressure liquor and the chips from the passage into a digestor as the individual passages come into register with the connections on rotation of rotor 27. In the arrangement shown in Figure 5, the connections 42, 43, 50, 51 to each of the pair of chip feeders 17, 18 lead to respective common manifolds (52), (53), 54, 56.</p> |
