PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To input kana character with two strokes and three strokes by using a few key switches. SOLUTION: A key switch means acquires the selection information of a consonant selection key switch group 4 to select the consonant parts of kana characters whose input is required and the selection information of a vowel selection key switch group to select the vowel parts of the kana characters whose input is required. Then, the consonant selection information and the vowel selection information acquired by the key switch means is used as information related to the line and column of a character selection matrix to select the kana characters whose input is required. The key switch means is provided with a first consonant selection key switch group 4 to select the consonants of unvoiced sounds or single-kana sounds, a second consonant selection key switch group 5 to select voiced sounds or contracted sounds, a first vowel selection key switch group 8 to select vowels of single-kana sounds or unvoiced sounds and a second vowel selection switch group 9 to select the vowels of the contracted sounds or voiced sounds.
