The compression/tension strut (1) is in one piece and consists of at least two sections (3,5) with different wall thicknesses in the axial direction, whereby there is a continuous transition region (4) between the sections. The strut can have at least two sections in the axial direction with different external diameters and a continuous transition region between the sections. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle body with an inventive strut.
