Tool management system for machine tools

The tool handling device has a motorized movable support structure with grippers (20) which each have two diametrically opposite openings for moving the tool holder sideways in and out. The grippers have two oppositely swiveling gripper claws (38, 40) which are actuated by actuating elements (42, 45) when the tool holder moves through one of the two openings. The claws can be opened against the force of spring elements (60) which bias the claws in the closed direction.
