The present invention relates to a method for welding ends of tubular containers (10), particularly tubes, filled with a flowable medium, made of a flat thin-walled material that can be softened or melted using heat, wherein the tubular container (10) is held in such a way that the end to be heat sealed is accessible and the tubular container can be heated to a temperature on the accessible end along a peripheral area so that it can be welded, and the heated end is compressed along a welding seam running longitudinally perpendicular to the longitudinal extension of the container (10). While the tubular container (10) is held in a stationary position, a laser beam (26) is directed towards the inner wall of the tubular container (10) via a deflection element located outside said tubular container (10) and the deflection element is made to rotate to heat the peripheral area. Device for welding tubular containers comprises a clamping mechanism for clamping the tubular container (10) to be welded, a heating mechanism for heating the tubular container (10) open end (20), and a pressing mechanism for compressing said tubular container (10) upper open end (20). The invented device is characterized in that said heating mechanism comprises a first deflection element, preferably, a first deflection mirror (22) rotatably mounted above the tubular container (10) and adapted for rotary motion about said tubular container (10) by means a rotational driving device, and a laser beam source located outside the container (10). |
