Damping element in the form of plates (4) contains soluble mineral fibers having an alkali/alkaline earth ratio of less than 1. The fiber structure of the damping element is determined by an average geometric fiber diameter of not more than 4 mu m, a surface weight of 0.8-4.3 kg/m2> and a binder amount based on the fiber composition of the damping element of more than 0.5-4 wt.%. Preferred Features: The binder is an organic binder. The mineral fibers are produced by an inner centrifuging in a centrifugal drum process with a drum temperature of at least 1100[deg] C.
