A method for synchronizing information between an exchange and a UMS(United Messaging System) is provided to update system information received from the exchange by the UMS, and to transmit the updated information to the UMS by the exchange, thereby automatically synchronizing the system information. When a UMS requests system information to an exchange(S1), the exchange transmits the requested information to the UMS(S2). When the UMS requests day/night mode information to the exchange(S3), the exchange transmits the day/night mode information to the UMS(S4). The UMS requests a message for a mailbox transmission preparation to the exchange(S5). The exchange transmits a signal responding to the message(S6). The UMS transmits a message for requesting a phone number transmission to the exchange until a message for a mailbox language information completion is transmitted from the exchange(S7,S9). The exchange transmits language information of a corresponding mailbox phone number(S8). If mailbox information to be transmitted does not exist, the exchange transmits a message for a mailbox response completion(S10). When the UMS requests holiday information to the exchange(S11), the exchange transmits the holiday information to the UMS(S12). The UMS requests holiday information to the exchange by increasing phone numbers of each subscriber by system information(S13). The exchange transmits holiday information of a corresponding phone number mailbox to the UMS(S14).
