<p>The footwear (1), and especially a boot for protection against atomic/bacteria/chemical (ABC) attack, has a multilayer structure (2). It has an outer layer (3) of leather or plastics and an inner lining (4), with an intermediate adsorption layer (5) between them containing an adsorbent (6) for chemical poisons. The structure also includes a semipermeable membrane (7) and a nonwoven or foam or textile spacer layer (8).
