A cosmetic treatment of cellulite involves using cycloid vibration in a treatment regime. Cycloid vibration is vibration of a pad by a motor at a frequency of between 10 to 100 Hz, preferably between 15 to 75 Hz, and with an amplitude of between 0.1 and 0.5mm. The treatment applies the vibrating pad to the affected area for sufficient repeated periods of about 15 minutes per unit area, with rests in between, to improve said appearance. The rest periods may be one day, with longer periods at weekends. The entire regime may be continued indefinitely. The pad has an area of at least 10,000 mm<2>.
