In the present invention, there is disclosed an absorbent article including a substantially liquid impermeable, vapor permeable composite backsheet (32), a liquid-permeable topsheet (34) positioned in facing relation with the backsheet (32) and an absorbent core (36) located between the backsheet (32) and topsheet (34). The composite backsheet (32) includes a polymeric vapor permeable film (60) of relatively low basis weight and a nonwoven facing layer (62), which enhances the strength of the composite backsheet (32) and provides a cloth-like feel to the composite backsheet (32).
