An image display device having a sleepiness prevention function and a controlling method thereof are provided to set a sleepiness prevention mode for preventing a driver from dozing off, and to output voice information for preventing a sleepiness, thereby preventing drivers from dozing off to the maximum. A key input unit(201) inputs a driver's request command. A storage(203) stores an audio signal set by the driver among various alarm sounds or audio signals received through a DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting) receiver(101). A voice recognizer(204) receives the driver's voice. A controller(202) decides whether a sleepiness prevention mode is set, controls so that a prestored storage sound can be outputted through a speaker(105), and determines whether to release the sleepiness prevention mode, depending on whether a driver response signal is inputted. A switching unit(205) selectively outputs the audio signals received through the DAB receiver(101) or the audio signal prestored in the storage(203) according to a control signal of the controller(202). |
