A mixture of water and dry-cleaning solvent heavier than water is introduced into a cylindrical chamber 27 and passes downwards through a tubular screen basket 37 for removal of solids and through an orifice 31 in a baffle plate 29 into a chamber 30. Here, separation occurs, the solvent flowing up a tubular portion 35 and into a storage tank 33 in which the apparatus 20 is located. The water flows up through a second orifice 32 in the baffle plate 29 into a chamber 28 whence it discharges to drain at 36. The position of baffle plate 29 is chosen to coincide with the solvent-water interface. |
