ADSORBENT FOR DESULFURIZATION OF LNG GAS CONTAINING ORGANIC SULFUR COMPOUND AND PROCESS FOR DESULFURIZATION USING THE ADSORBENT

A desulfurizing adsorbent useful for LNG gas containing organic sulfur compound and a process for desulfurization of the gas using the adsorbent are provided to utilize the LNG gas as fuel for fuel battery by efficiently adsorbing and removing the organic sulfur compound. The adsorbent comprises at least one or more transition metals selected from a group consisting of Fe, Co, Ni, Cu and Zn and zeolite as a carrier for supporting the transition metal obtained by calcination of the supported transition metal on the carrier at 300-800 deg.C in a reduction atmosphere containing hydrogen gas. The desulfurization process comprises using the desulfurizing adsorbent and passing LNG gas through the adsorbent in the condition of 0.01-10 atm. of gauge pressure and 100-50,000 h exp.1 of space velocity at -20 to 200 deg.C to eliminate TBM and THT as bad smelling materials.
