A field sequential LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to obtain full color and high contrast by optimizing the number of driving bits. A field sequential LCD segments one frame into at least three sub-frames and displays RGB images by the sub-frames. The field sequential LCD drives one frame with the number of driving bits, which satisfies one of a driving condition of a contrast ratio of more than 100 and a driving condition of representing more than 16 gray scales. The number of driving bits is 8 to 16 bits. The number of driving bits for representing more than 16 gray scales is larger than 8 bits. The number of driving bits satisfying the contrast ratio of more than 100 is larger than 16 bits.
