A lathe is provided to reduce processing hours by processing long and short work pieces variously and quickly with two tools at the same time, and to replace the tool without stopping a machine while processing the work piece with the other tool. A lathe is composed of a main spindle(30) gripping and turning a work piece and reciprocating in parallel with the rotational axis of the work piece, a rear main shaft(50) opposed to the main spindle to grip and turn the work piece and reciprocated in Z-direction, tool holding members(40) attaching tools for processing the work piece, reciprocating in Z or X-direction and changing the direction of the tool by turning in XZ-plane, and a guide bush(90) turning and supporting the work piece protruded from the main spindle and sliding the work piece along the rotational axis. The tool holding member is composed of a turret for placing the tool and a main tool shaft in which plural tools are mounted. |
