An apparatus and a method for controlling output power are provided to obtain control data for output power of entire channels using 2 or 3 channel output power by approximating an output power characteristic for each channel into a predetermined order equation based on a fact that channel output power changes continuously without any singular point according to feature of parts of a mobile terminal. An apparatus for controlling output power in a mobile terminal comprises a storing portion(210), an output power data selecting portion(220) and an interpolating portion(230). The storing portion stores a unique channel number and output power data corresponding to the unique channel number. The output power data selecting portion selects a plurality of interpolation output power data among the output power data and acquires a plurality of interpolation unique channel numbers corresponding to the plurality of interpolation output power data. The interpolating portion receives the plurality of interpolation output power data and the plurality of interpolation unique channel numbers and calculates a plurality of output power control data, which are output power data obtained by using a plurality of interpolating equations.
