The antibiotic 13,213 R.P. is converted into the antibiotic rubidomycin by hydrolysis with a 0À01 N to 6 N aqueous solution of an acid for between 48 hours at 10‹ C. and 30 minutes at 75‹ C. The 13,213 R.P. may be in aqueous, aqueous-organic solvent or organic solvent solution or may be a fermentation broth obtained according to Specification 985,598. The acid may be inorganic, e.g. hydrochloric, phosphoric or sulphuric, or may be organic, e.g. acetic or oxalic acid. The solution of 13,213 R.P. contains 0À01 to 5% by weight of 13,213 R.P. Rubidomycin is identical with daunomycin and has been renamed daunorubicin. |
