<p>Dendritic cells (DC) play a critical role in antigen-specific immune responses. Materials and methods are provided for treating disease states, including cancer, by activating dendritic cells from the host which are rendered hypo-responsive to activation stimuli by the disease. In particular, methods are provided for treating cancer in a mammal comprising administering to said mammal an effective amount of a tumor-derived DC inhibitory factor antagonist in combination with an effective amount of a Toll-like receptor (TLR) agonist.</p> |
