An organic EL(Electroluminescence) element and an organic electroluminescent device comprising the EL element are provided to include plural luminous areas while each luminous area comprises a transparent first electrode and a transparent second electrode, and to interpose an organic layer between the first and second electrodes to emit light. A transparent electrode(10) is electrically connected to an electrode(30) of other luminous area. An insulating portion(40) is provided between transparent electrodes(10) of physically adjacent luminous areas. An electrode(30) is connected to a transparent electrode(10) of an electrically connected luminous area. An electrode which is not electrically connected to the electrode(30) of the other luminous area is connected to an external driving circuit, in a luminous area supplied to an electrical section of an organic EL element(1).
