An apparatus for cutting off an overvoltage in a mobile communication terminal is provided to connect an overvoltage, which is inputted while an external power is supplied to an internal circuit, to a ground in order to prevent the overvoltage from being provided to the internal circuit, thereby protecting a terminal and internal parts from the overvoltage. An overvoltage cutoff circuit(22) checks whether an inputted external power is abnormal, if the external power is received through a power on/off switch(23), and outputs the checked results as a switching operation control signal for cutting off an overvoltage input. A switching circuit unit(24) is driven according to the switching operation control signal between the power on/off switch(23) and an automatic power supplier(25), and connects the inputted overvoltage to a ground, to prevent the overvoltage from being inputted to the automatic power supplier(25).
