The invention relates to a method for exchanging data disseminated by a plurality of terminals in a telecommunications network wherein each terminal detects the presence of other terminals located within a commuting distance, establishes connection with the detected terminal and exchanges data with the terminal with which said connection is established. Data exchanged between two terminals comprise files each of which has a defined structure for a respective profile known by both terminals. The inventive method involves the following stages: after establishing connection between the first and second terminals, the first terminal transmits (22, 43) a list of profile identification codes to the second terminal, in return, the second terminal transmits (24c, 45) a set of files each of which corresponds to a profile identified in the received list of profile identification codes and the first terminal records (26, 46) the received files.
